Al-Kamil fi al-Tarikh (The Complete History)

Al-Kamil fi al-Tarikh is one of the foremost sources of Islamic history, written by the historian Izz al-Din Ibn al-Athir al-Jazari. He arranges events year by year, from the accounts of the earliest nations and ages to the events of 628 AH. Ibn al-Athir drew on a number of earlier histories, above all that of al-Tabari, and added reports from other sources, and he also covers events he witnessed or that were close to his own time. The book is especially valuable for documenting the history of the Islamic world, including the Crusades and the Mongol invasion, and for linking events that took place in different regions at the same time.
