Umayyad Dirham (Minted in Ifriqiya, 132 AH) – Reign of Marwan ibn Muhammad
This dirham weighs 2.1 grams, lighter than the other Ifriqiya dirhams in the Encyclopedia, which weigh between 2.3 and 3.0 grams. It was struck in 132 AH, the last year of the mint's final phase, which began in 128 AH. Five years of work ended with it, and the Umayyad presence in Ifriqiya's dirhams ended too.
The great events of 132 AH followed one another, and Marwan ibn Muhammad was killed in Dhu al-Hijja.
Fifty-five years had passed since Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan's monetary reform. The Encyclopedia rates the dirham Very Rare. It closes a run of silver that left Ifriqiya in the name of the Umayyad state.
