Umayyad Dirham (Minted in Ifriqiya, 124 AH) – Reign of Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik
Ifriqiya mint paused between 121 and 123 AH. It reopened in 124 AH and struck for two consecutive years before stopping again. This dirham comes from the first of those two years, in the reign of Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, on the far edges of the Maghrib. Ifriqiya is the province west of Egypt, and the armies that conquered Al-Andalus set out from it.
