Al-Ayat al-Qur'aniyya ala al-Maskukat al-Islamiyya (Qur'anic Verses on Islamic Coins)
A comparative study of the Qur'anic verses inscribed on Islamic coins since the Arabization of coinage under the Umayyad caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan in 77 AH / 696 CE. The author follows the verses in the order in which they appeared on coins, analyzing why they were inscribed and linking them to the political, doctrinal and economic circumstances of each period.
