Unique Umayyad Dirham (Minted in Mahi 127 AH) — Reign of Ibrahim ibn al-Walid

In 127 AH, as the foundations of the Umayyad State cracked, rebellion did not only use swords. In the city of Mahi, a revolution of a different kind was minted, one etched sharply into silver.

This rare dirham served as a revolutionary manifesto; instead of official slogans, it bears the Quranic verse: "Say, I ask of you no reward for it except love for my kinsfolk" (al-Mawaddah fi al-Qurba). This was a blatant declaration that the rebels recognized the legitimacy of the Prophet''s kin, not Damascus. Every dirham minted in Mahi was a theological shout challenging the status quo. Its survival today is a historical miracle — a witness to dreams that were never realized.
