Umayyad Dirham (Minted in Arminiyah 106 AH) Reign of Hisham bin Abd al-Malik
With the beginning of the strong reign of Caliph Hisham bin Abd al-Malik, this dirham appeared from "Arminiyah" in 106 AH. It documents the phase of securing the northern borders with an iron fist. Characterized by beautiful calligraphy and strong minting, it indicates that the mint in Armenia was a well-established and organized institution, operating efficiently to pump necessary liquidity to armies stationed at the frontiers, under the watchful eye of a Caliph who accepted no negligence.<!-- notionvc: 2dbaf169-ae1d-4c8a-8a97-a595df1dad6f -->
