. Umayyad Dirham (Minted in Al-Qandal 96 AH) Reign of Al-Walid bin Abd al-Malik

This dirham bears the name of the mysterious and extinct city of "Al-Qandal" and dates to the final year of Al-Walid’s caliphate (96 AH). It is the final stroke of an era filled with conquests, as Umayyad currency reached cities unheard of before. This dirham represents the maximum geographic expansion reached by the financial administration in that golden age, before Al-Walid’s death turned the page on that chapter.<!-- notionvc: 31d3ac35-0dc7-41ba-a9b2-f1f431151839 -->
