“There is no god but God.” The declaration of faith heads this dirham, struck at the Al-Samiya mint in 131 AH. The mint appears only once in the record of Umayyad dirhams, a year before the fall of the state, in a time when names and places changed quickly.

Caliph Marwan ibn Muhammad faced revolts across his provinces, and coins were struck in 27 cities in his reign, Al-Samiya among them. The following year, the Umayyad caliphate fell after the Battle of the Zab in Jumada II. The dirham weighs 2.9 grams, and the Encyclopedia rates it Scarce.
